Definitely SOL unless you build the ill-advised trek to Daytona Beach (15 miles away) which is basically the land of "white trash gay" in terms of the bar scene. New Smyrna Beach is probably one of the worst places in terms of gay friendliness along the Florida coast.

Gay Bars in Daytona Beach, FL: A Comprehensive Instruction for LGBTQ+ Travelers and Locals

1. Introduction: Daytona Beach’s Evolving LGBTQ+ Landscape

Daytona Beach, a prominent coastal town in Volusia County, Florida, is best known for its racing heritage, world-class beaches, Bike Week events, and a nightlife that beckons crowds from around the globe. With tourism at the heart of its economy, Daytona Beach attracts spring breakers, bikers, families, and, of course, LGBTQ+ travelers eager to explore Florida’s warm climate and lively atmosphere.

Despite its reputation for big parties and major events, Daytona Beach has never been labeled a “gay mecca” comparable to Fort Lauderdale, Wilton Manors, or Key West. This is partly due to the city’s historical focus on motorsports and mainstream tourism rather than specialized LGBTQ+ tourism. Over the years, pockets of queer-friendly communities possess emerged—particularly among students, local artists, and younger professionals—but an explicit, highly observable gay scene has not formed on the identical scale as in other Florida hotspots.

That said, the city’s vibrant tapestry remains open and welcoming to a broad range of visitors. Daytona Beac
