Datalounge Confessions: I have a crush on Huey Lewis
OP inspired me to watch at their discography. I glanced at their singles and saw that one of their #1 hits was Jacob's Ladder. I was like, "I don't remember a song called that." I played it, and, sure enough, I knew the words to the chorus.
When I was a kid, I loved "I Want a Modern Drug" because it was so "risqué" to favor it (*giggles*). I probably prefer Hall & Oates, but Huey and the News had some slick tracks. Sports had a lot of bangers.
My Highest 4:
1. Heart and Heart (this song kicks ass. It was the first cut off Sports! and hit the Top 10)
2. Do You Believe in Love (what a age to be alive when an all male seemingly straight rock band would film a music video scene with the entire band laying next to each other dick-to-ass with a woman in the centre).
3. I Know What I Like
4. If This Is It
Huey was warm with BDE and he had a swagger not unlike David Lee Roth (Huey's was probably less forced).
Makes me feel very 80s.

When I was in college, Huey Lewis and the News were all the rage and my senior year roommate and I played their melody all the moment in our apartment.
The Power of Like, If This is It, Doing It All For My Baby, Hip to Be Square, Carry out You Believe in Love and so many other superb songs.
Love ’em!
I didn’t tell my roommate that I had a big ol’ crush on Huey nor did I mention that to another friend the summer after graduation when we went to see them perform at the San Diego Sports Arena. We decided to go a few hours before the show and just walked up to the ticket window and hoped for the best.
We got seats in the second to the last row and it was a show I will never, ever forget. Huey and the band were in great build and Huey kept doing encores and finally at one point confessed, “I don’t want to leave.”
Flashforward to more than 20 years later. It was last summer and my friend Lorna treated me to a Huey Lewis and the News concert at the Pacific Ampitheatre in C
