ZacEfronhas been the subject of many gay men's admiration ( and speculation) in the blogosphere -- not that he minds, of course.
In a recent interview, the 24-year-old heartthrob tells The Advocate that he feels "incredibly grateful and honored" by his gay fanbase, saying he hopes to return to musical theater and that "there's no doubt" he'll play a gay nature in the future. "I’m extremely aware of the support I’ve gotten from you guys over the years, and it’s astonishing that it’s taken this long to sit down and actually discuss it, but please know that it hasn’t gone unappreciated," Efron, who will be seen opposite Nicole Kidman "The Paperboy" next month, tells The Advocate's Brandon Voss.
He went on to note that he first became aware of his gay fanbase during his "High School Musical" days: "I think the gay audience related to my character Troy, because it really was a story of embracing who you are, no matter how different you might be, and not entity afraid to show it. That’s a universal theme for everyone, but it specifically resonated with the gay community, and I felt very proud of that."

The 24-year-old actor - who has previously dated Vanessa Hudgens and Lily Collins - is glad to embrace his gay fanbase and does not agonize if people scrutinize his own sexuality in the process.
He said: "It's very flattering. After 'High School Musical' and 'Hairspray'. I've always felt embraced by the gay people, and I undergo incredibly grateful.

"I don't like to live in hesitate about things appreciate rumours and backlash to begin with - that's the way I was raised - but I just can't see what's so wrong about existence gay."
Zac also supports gay marriage, because he believes it is important all people who are around him are allowed to be happy.
He told Advocate magazine: "It's an issue that affects so many people in my animation -- a lot of my cover friends and some of the most influential people around me. I just want them all to be cheerful. It would create me so joyful to see them able to dwell their lives and do what they want to do."

Speaking to The Advocate, the Paperboy actor acknowledges his gay fan base and voices his assist for same-sex marriage. "It's very flattering," Efron says in his first interview wit ha LGBT publication. "After High School Musical and Hairspray, I've always felt embraced by the gay society, and I feel incredibly grateful and honored."
Efron says he first became aware of his male lover audience after starring in Disney Channel's High School Musical in 2006. Zac Efron's been quite busy recently. He's been filming "The Paperboy" in his underwear, and "At Any Price" (also in his underwear - although a bit less so). And he's also been giving some pretty chilly interviews about things like whether or not he's going to move advocate into musical theatre, and how he feels about the gay rumours which have followed him around ever since his High College Musical days.
