LGBTQ Memorabilia Designer Honors Defunct Florida Lgbtq+ Bars
Most Florida cities have at least one gay prevent everyone knows about. Even in some of the more conservative, small cities, there’s usually one designated gay exclude. But what about LGBTQ bars of the past? Not every gay exclude thrived through decades of hardship. Many defunct Florida LGBTQ bars played an essential role in LGBTQ history, and Art Smith believes those establishments justify to be remembered. The promoter and designer launched an online store to highlight LBGTQ bars of the past.
Honoring the Past with the GayBarchives Project
In 2019, Smith kicked off TBTeez to sell shirts that commemorated the anniversary of the Backstreet bar. Back in 1975, the prevent opened in Atlanta and featured a 24/7 liquor license during much of its existence. Before it closed in 2004, the large three-story entertainment complex was one of the most widespread gay bars in the Southeastern Combined States.

From I95 take the LPGA Blvd exit then take a right onto Nova Rd. Rumors is 2 blocks down on the right. From I95 taking the International Speedway Blvd depart take a left at Nova Road go north and it 4 blocks on the left after you pass Mason St.
Cross street: Rumors is located 2 blocks south of LPGA Blvd. Going south it is on the right. Tthere is also a liquor store in an adjacent building.
- Crowd:Mixed crowd, young through older, very good mix of gay, bi and lez lots of amusing. Younger looking for Daddies. Good young action.
- Hours:12 noon till 2am.
Best times: Best time is after 8pm. Live performative shows start after 9pm they are very great. - Cruising Info/ Tips:Introduce yourself or buy someone a drink, you'll detect more action than you can handle.
Cruisiest Spots: Far corner of prevent and tables next to dance floor. - Wheelchair Accessible:Yes / Handicap access and ramps on each side of the front door. But I've never seen them used.
