So yesterday I came across this publish. For those of you who don’t want to click over, allow me to summarize: a publishing company agreed to publish a book. The book’s about ready to be published–all that’s left is to finalize little things like the authors’ bios. One of the authors mentions that he lives with his wife and children. The other’s bio includes a tidbit about how he lives with his partner. He changes that to “partner” when the publisher has a hissy fit, but that doesn’t appease the publisher. They want all mention of a partner or partner left out of the bio. The author refuses.
The publisher cancels the novel.
Why? Because the publisher is Cedar Fort, a Utah push that sells primarily to Mormons–and they’re freaked out about alienating Deseret Novel, a church-run bookstore in Utah that’s a prime place for books to be sold.

Longtime ‘Live With Kelly And Mark’ Exec Art Moore Announces Retirement
Art Moore, WABC-TV New York vice president of programming and longtime executive-in-charge of production ofLive with Kelly and Mark and its prior iterations, will retire in September.
The news was announced by Marilu Galvez, President & General Manager, WABC-TV.
“To tell that Art is a much-loved member of the WABC family is just barely scratching the surface of his impact on my leadership team, the station and the industry overall,” Galvez said in a memo to staff. “Art has been part of our ABC family for a remarkable 53 years, beginning at WKBW-TV in Buffalo when ABC was known as Capital Cities/ABC. He then worked as the director of programming at WPVI in Philadelphia for many years before joining WABC in 1989.”
Galvez added, “Art has been with Live… almost since its inception 36 years ago, making an indelible mark on not just the entertainment but the daytime television landscape overall and winning the hearts of viewers nationwide along the way.”
