Champion horseman to ride in Palm Springs' gay rodeo
David Renier has all of the stats of a modern-day superhero — minus the cape.
The 6'1", openly gay horseman is usually outfitted in Cinch jeans, and a cowboy hat and boots, instead. Oh yeah, and he frequently defeats his opponent.
When rodeo fans speak of Renier as a competitor, their common refrain is, "He wins a lot." It was said in the 2014 documentary on homosexual rodeos, "Queens & Cowboys," in which Renier is playfully depicted as the arrogant champ to fellow competitor Wade Earp's underdog. And it's what Jeffrey Rosenberg of Palm Springs says about Renier's participation in the International Male lover Rodeo Association circuit.
"David is an excellent competitor," adds Rosenberg, president of the Greater Palm Springs Chapter of the Golden Declare Gay Rodeo Association. "He's also a generally wonderful guy. I've never seen him brag about his wins. I've seen him help other people as well."
Renier's passion for rodeo and its community of athletes and performers will be on full demonstrate May 2-4 during the annual Hot Rodeo. It's the only gay rodeo event planned in Southern California this season. Its competitive events will receive place in

For a few months I was around a Saddle Seat/Western barn (the saddle used depended on what the rider felt like that day.) I was puzzled why these macho males mind that men who did 3-D and show jumping were sissies.
I really complete think it is the modern stretch breeches. I consider these men were wary of flashing their assets where gay men could see them (assets–the male rider’s bottom.) They just did not want to deal with the innuendo, the mistaken assumptions, and the fact that everybody could see their bottom very, very clearly.
I think the big switch was when riders changed from the cavalry twill breeches than puffed out at the sides and were baggy except during the sky-high jumps. With the cavalry twill puffy breeches a man’s assets are only clearly delineated during the higher jumps. With the latest stretch TIGHT breeches a man’s assets are visible every minute they wear them, even if the man is just standing there.
Doing 3-D and exhibition jumping takes COURAGE, guts and persistence, all virtues which are manly to me and many cis-women. Men who jump are NOT sissies, not at
